Mechanical Baffle

This baffle is a thermostatic control based on “K” technology provided with a flap to intercept a cold air flow in function of the temperature sensed in the compartment controlled. It does not require external energy sources to operate.

Typical application is for no-frost refrigerators to control the fridge compartment. Also applied to multi-zone refrigerators with 0°C compartment. Sensed temperature changes force the flap to open or close an air inlet maintaining a constant temperature in the compartment.

The desired temperature level can easily be field adjusted via the rotary dial provided with the control. Main design features are the quick response time to temperature changes, the low hysteresis between opening and closing curve and the narrow temperature change necessary to displace the flap from close to fully open position that can be as low as 5K. Another important feature is the ability to provide the flap either longitudinal or perpendicular to the mounting surface depending on whether the air inlet is from the back or the top side of the fridge compartment.

The temperature sensor is of vapour fill type with remote sensing portion either in straight capillary form or with a bulb provision to overcome cross ambient conditions, depending on the type of application. The control can be supplied as discrete component or assembled and tested into a suitable housing as specified by the customer.
